EASTER – WHAT DOES IT MEAN ?

Most people believe that there is another dimension, a spiritual world and that death is not the end of a person. People instinctively know that there is something beyond the material things that we can see and touch.

Well, Easter time proves that this is indeed the case. Christians celebrate a death, indeed one of the most important symbols of Christianity, the cross, was an instrument of torture and execution.

However the death of Jesus Christ on the Friday was not the end of the story. Somebody has come back from the dead. Death had no power over Jesus and He proved He was more powerful than death. His resurrection proves that there is the real possibility of life after  death.

You may be saying at this point “Well Christian morals are all very good and there is no doubt that Jesus gave us wonderful teaching but I can’t accept any of the supernatural stuff – like resurrection”.

Well a religion that can’t give hope for when we face death is of no real use. Christianity , if it is to provide a means of hope after death, has to be supernatural. Help has to come from outside this world as there is nothing in this world that can conquer death. If Jesus Christ is God, as He claims to be, then He HAD to do the supernatural. That is exactly what one would expect from God and exactly what we need. So from His supernatural conception through His supernatural miracles and then His supernatural resurrection Jesus proved that He was God and He had the power to help fallen mankind who are under the curse of death because we sin.

IT IS NATURAL FOR GOD TO BE SUPERNATURAL

So this Easter perhaps it’s time to stop being sceptical and start being inquisitive.

This is the assessment of Sir Lionel Luckhoo, the brilliant and savvy attorney whose astounding 245 consecutive murder acquittals earned him a place in The Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most successful lawyer. Knighted twice by Queen Elizabeth, this former justice and diplomat subjected the historical facts about the Resurrection to his own rigorous analysis for several years before declaring, “I say unequivocally that the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ is so overwhelming that it compels acceptance by proof which leaves absolutely no room for doubt.”
